The Story Behind the RowDoor™
In the days of old-style orchards, climbing through 3–5 fruiting wires to reach the next row was easy. Today’s intensive growing systems, with up to nine wires spaced less than 300mm apart, have made that impossible. Walking to the headland and back—over 200 meters on average—takes more than two minutes per trip. That’s wasted time no grower can afford.
Hortivate saw the problem and asked: What if we could create a way to access adjacent rows without the detour? The answer was the RowDoor™—a retrofittable, oval-shaped access point that’s strong enough to tie off trellis wires while keeping your structure intact. Its unique design (protected by design rights) makes it practical for workers to pass through effortlessly.
Originally built to speed up quality control checks during harvest—saving up to 45 minutes per check for higher fruit quality and returns—the RowDoor™ has grown into so much more. Our first client placed it mid-row near irrigation solenoids for easy maintenance. Others use it for daily tasks or quick breaks. After extensive R&D and testing, we’re proud to bring this innovation to orchards everywhere.
